memoBOKS is a way to engage with how and what we think and experience. It’s a tool that helps un-clutter the mind and direct attention to what matters most to us, so we can engage in meaningful work regardless how much time we have.  The memoBOKS helps prioritizing and engaging our attention.

What is in the memoBOKS?

1 Your Commonplace Book

  • as a memory aid: holding on to information that you think is important.
  • Examples: notes on books you read, quotes you want to remember or information that needs to be organized (for later use)

Never heard of commonplace books? Early commonplace books date back to the 15th century and were a way to compile knowledge. By the 18th century they were used as an information management device in which a note-taker stored quotations, observations and definitions long-hand. They are the private versions of blogs, tumblr and instagram. The commonplace book is for anything that you decide is important.  Lately, analog systems have made a comeback as hand-writing contributes to how much we hold on to information. And what you think is worth holding on to correlates directly with the way you think and how you direct your attention.

2 Your creativity

  • your project (a book, a speech, an event or any work that requires organization… a speech, a book, a report, a letter, a blog)
  • A personal record of your thoughts (handwriting personalizes and gives shape to thought)
  • visual maps/doodles
  • use it for writing practice

3 Your Planner/Journal/Diary

  • travelogue,
  • notes on special events
  • daily musings
  • lists
  • letters
  • calendar
